Lampang has the horse carriage as its symbol and monasteries built
in Burmese and Lanna Style. Lampang was previously know as Khelang
Nakhon.

WAT PHRA THAT KAEW DON TAO
Wat Phra That Kaew Don Tao was establised in the period of King
Ananthayot. The attractive is the 50 meter high pagoda Burmese style
and popular stop on the most horse cart tours .
WAT PRA TU PONG
This temple located on the west side of the Wang River. The most
attactive of this temple is the beautiful wood carving works over
100 years.
WAT SRI RONG MUANG
This temple is one of the nice decoration and archetecture of Burmese
Arts of colorful stained glasses decoration alternating with gold
guilt works on the Vihara.
HORSE CART TOURS
The horse carts tend to congregate around the front of the City
Hall and Thip Chang Road. A short ride will cost Bt20 to Bt30 whilst
tours of the Wang River and a couple of wats will cost Bt80 to Bt100.
If business is slow you should be able to bargain them down.
WAT PHRA THAT LAMPANG LUANG
This temple located around 20 km from downtown of Lampang which
the temple was found in 1486 by the rulers of the oldest wooden
building in Thailand. This temple has important Buddha images of
"Phra Jao Lan Tang"
and "Phra Jao Tan Jai".
THAI ELEPHANT CONSERVATION CENTRE
This place located around 38 km to the west of Lampang is the Young
Elephant Conservation Centre. This place will train the babies at
5 years of age with one master until they reach the ripe old age
of 67.
THUNG KWIAN FORESTRY MARKET
Only a few kilometers down the road from the baby elephant centre,
this market sells a huge variety of forest products (both flora
and fauna). Arrive in the early morning to secure your live water
beetles, crispy larvae and eviscerated lizards. Vegetarians will
appreciate the extensive fungi selection, while beef lovers can
select their cow placentas with the locals. Apart from the
core 'weird beast eats' section, the market is fairly tourist with
curio shops on the fringe. For the unadventurous, there is grilled
chicken and sticky rice as well as curry stalls. The market is not
really worth a special mission but is open from 5.00 am to noon.
To get there take a Chiang Mai bound bus from Lampang bus station
for Bt20.
CHAE SON NATIONAL PARK
This national park has area around 600 sq. km and is best known
for its namesake, the Chae Son Waterfall. This
waterfall is one of the beautiful water cascading down 7 tiers which
each tier as a pool suitable for swimming. Chae Son Hot Spa Park
is the most attraction place. The water does not scatter but drops
in a vertical jet. The most attractive is spa area which the water
temperature reaches a very high point, up to 75-82 degree celsius.
